LETTER:Backs Purser

During my 30-year career as an electric utility government public affairs professional, I saw a lot.

The best, and worst, seem to come out, especially during elections.

It’s hard to know who or what to believe.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Will Purser is the best candidate for Clallam Public Utility District commissioner.

Because of his industry knowledge, experience, and leadership, we have affordable rates, reliable service, and a clean energy supply that is 98 percent free of carbon.

We are fortunate.

Few electric customers outside the Northwest can say that about their utility.

Will is uniquely qualified to navigate the complex energy and natural resource challenges we have ahead of us, especially mandates, legislation, and proposals to combat climate change.

Will is not about campaign promises.

As he has done in the past, he will carefully evaluate every proposal, and then make the best decision based on the impact to electric rates and benefit to customers and the utility as a whole.

As more and more pressure is put on our electric rates to address climate change, including electric vehicle initiatives, some other proposals may not pencil out.

I’m OK with that because the reality is we can’t afford to have it all.

We need an experienced commissioner who will do what needs to be done to keep the lights on at a price everyone can afford.

Join me in reelecting Will Purser.

Let’s keep his knowledge, experience, and leadership working for us.
