LETTER: Suspects president actually wants impeachment

As the latest delirium from the White House gains Category 5 strength, I wish to posit a contrary theory.

Why would a president, having committed impeachable offenses too numerous to list, take the American people’s noses and rub them in his latest mess in Ukraine before an upcoming election?

My theory is Trump wants to be impeached and removed from office for several reasons.

First, he never expected to win office, was as shocked as we were, and didn’t really want the job but took it with no policy agenda and no inclination to govern.

The job interferes with watching TV, texting and golf.

No time for the president’s daily briefing.

Impeachment would relieve him of that burden.

Second, by being impeached, it would make Trump the victim, an expression of his narcissism.

His victimhood would provide him what he craves — more attention.

Removal from office would negate the possibility of losing the election.

Being a loser is his worst fear.

Being the victim of a “deep state coup d’etat” is preferable.

Third, being impeached would allow Trump to return to the life he craves, his reality TV show, commentator on Fox News and maybe a special on the History Channel on the construction of a bust on a granite mountain somewhere in Greenland.
