LETTER: Port Townsend council wrong

Shame, shame, shame on the Port Townsend City Council.

Calling for a cease-fire in Gaza shows you are only interested in supporting one group of people.

You are disregarding the well-being of those who were blatantly attacked, murdered, sexually abused and presently being held hostage by a terrorist organization, Hamas.

If peace were the long-term goal of a cease-fire, Hamas would be demanded and agreed to release babies, children and adults who have now been held hostage for over 100 days to start the peace process.

Hamas’ goal is total destruction of Israel without any regard for Israelis or Palestinians.

Obviously, the well-being of Israelis was not considered at all.

If you do not like being accused of being antisemitic, then stop being antisemitic.

We are all human beings.

The letter “Victory, Not Cease-Fire” in Peninsula Voices (PDN Sat/Sun Jan. 27-28) was quite clear.

Please read the author’s words.

Why did the Port Townsend City Council choose to be silent when death squads from Hamas slaughtered, maimed and took others as hostage including children and elderly on Oct. 7.

I will not be silent; I know what happens when the truth is not spoken.
