Letter: Blames Trump

It is a sad state of affairs when a nation that was once the greatest, strongest and smartest on earth is so poorly responding to a global pandemic.

The fault lies squarely at the feet of one Donald Trump.

Reality does not care about politics, opinions, or beliefs.

It is what it is, and Trump’s life-long habit of twisting, side-stepping, lying about, distorting and ignoring reality has finally come back to bite him, and us all, in the butt.

Trump has spent his life deceiving people, defrauding people, manipulating people, and playing the system.

He does this always and exclusively for his own benefit alone.

Slippery as an eel, who would have thought that a con-man and snake-oil salesman like Trump would ever be able to sell his deceptions on a national and international stage?

The fault for that lies squarely with the gullibility and ignorance of his supporters, and the cowardice and traitorous betrayal of the GOP.

A nation achieves and maintains greatness through inclusion, not exclusion, with compassion, not hatred, by practicing tolerance, not intolerance, by creating equality, not inequality, by facing reality, not creating a false reality, and by upholding a rule of law for all, not by demanding a pledge of loyalty to any individual or small group.

These are the things that made America great, these are the things that kept America great for 200 years, and these are the things that Trump is incapable of practicing or even understanding.
