Shipwrights’ Regatta set for noon Saturday

PORT TOWNSEND — The 32nd Shipwrights’ Regatta is set for noon Saturday in Port Townsend Bay.

The annual sailing race is sponsored by the Port Townsend Sailing Association and the Northwest Maritime Center.

There will be an awards party in the maritime center, 431 Water St., after the race.

The course for the race is an approximately 2 nautical mile trail. All boats must sail two laps around the course.

The race will feature four or five classes: racing, Thunderbird, cruising 1, cruising 2 and cruising 3; no handicaps will be applied.

The break between cruising classes, and the need for the third cruising class will be determined at the skippers’ meeting at 10 a.m. in the association’s clubhouse, 385 Benedict St.
