Cabled Fiber & Yarn will host Sierra Kreun, owner and designer of All Knit Up Designs, on Saturday during the Second Saturday Art Walk in Port Angeles.

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Arts Council will host Second Saturday Art Walk from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at more than a dozen participating Port Angeles businesses.

Several galleries will host special events during the monthly self-guided tour, including:

• The Brush Off will start at 7 p.m. at Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St.

The annual contest pits six randomly selected painters against the clock and each other.

The artists are given 15 minutes to create a painting on a theme supplied by the audience.

The winner, selected at the end of the evening, wins a prize package from Studio Bob as well as any tips from the audience.

All six pieces will be displayed for the rest of the year alongside past winners in Art Alley behind the studio.

Anyone interested in participating may put their name in a hat starting at 5 p.m.

For more information, call 360-775-2160 or email info@studiobob.art.

• Harbor Art Gallery, 114 N. Laurel St., will feature jewelry, copper work and colored pencil art of Gail Mclain from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A longtime resident of the Olympic Peninsula, Mclain seeks media that allow her to express her love of the area’s flora and fauna.

“My style is realistic but with my own spin on the subject to make it original and unique,” Mclain said. “The wonderful thing about the arts is that there are almost infinite mediums of expression.”

Mclain employs a broad range of art media, including wire wrapping and beading, colored pencil and acrylic and, recently, hand-forming copper sheeting.

Mclain’s art can be viewed at Harbor Art Gallery from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays throughout June.

• Cabled Fiber and Yarn, 125 W. First St., will host Sierra Kreun from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Kreun is a local fiber artist, designer and the owner of All Knit Up Designs.

All Knit Up Designs designs accessory patterns for social knitting at fiber events and for everyday wearable art.

The company focuses on independently dyed yarn from local small businesses.

All Knit Up Designs produces project bags in four different sizes that will be available at Cabled Fiber and Yarn starting at 11 a.m. today.
