Jean Lenke Trio to play Concerts in the Woods series

COYLE — The Jean Lenke Trio will kick off the Concerts in the Woods Series on Saturday.

The concert will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road in Coyle.

Tickets are by donation only with a suggested $20.

Lenke, a Pacific Northwest jazz, folk and blues vocal artist, paints music in full color, with broad strokes and a free hand. As bandleader, her approach to music is free spirited and bold, crossing boundaries and mixing genres, celebrating all the shades and hues life brings us in the Northwest.

Whether performing as an intimate acoustic duo or trio, or with her six-piece Jean Therapy West Band, Lenke’s approach to jazz is influenced by an eclectic mix of mid-century folk and jazz-rock fusion.

She will share favorite songs from the classic jazz standards catalogue as well as folk and fusion favorites by singer-songwriters Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Lizz Wright, Ritchie Havens, Sandy Denny and more.
