Award-winning bluegrass artist plays with The Right Hands at Quimper Grange

PORT TOWNSEND — Grammy Award-winning musician Laurie Lewis and her band The Right Hands will perform bluegrass music at the Quimper Grange in Port Townsend on Tuesday.

Lewis, who has been a featured artist at Centrum’s Fiddletunes and Voiceworks, will offer an afternoon workshop in harmony singing from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. that day at the grange hall at 1219 Corona St. before the concert at 7 p.m.

Admission to the workshop is a $25 suggested donation. Admission to the concert is a $15 to $20 suggested donation.

Lewis is internationally known as a singer, songwriter, fiddler, bandleader, producer and educator, organizers said.

She was a founding member of the Good Ol’ Persons and the Grant Street String Band and has performed and recorded since 1986 with her musical partner, mandolinist Tom Rozum.

She has twice been voted IBMA’s Female Vocalist of the Year.

Since her debut in 1986, Lewis has recorded nearly 20 albums in a number of musical formats. Her latest album — with her band The Right Hands — was nominated for the Best Bluegrass Recording Grammy in 2017.

The proceeds from the workshop and concert will support educational and community events at the Quimper Grange.
