Activities to mark World Kindness Day

The West End public libraries in the North Olympic Library System will celebrate World Kindness Day on Tuesday with activities all day.

As Aesop said, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted,” organizers said in a news release.

Community cards will be created for residents of Forks Long-Term Care and patients at Seattle Children’s Hospital at the Forks and Clallam Bay libraries. All are welcome to drop in and design cards.

A film screening and book giveaway featuring the book-to-film hit “Wonder” will take place at the Forks Library at 4 p.m. and at the Clallam Bay Library at 6 p.m.

Light refreshments will be served at the showings.

“Wonder” stars Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay and is based on the award-winning novel written by R.J. Palacio. A limited supply of free copies of the book will be available at the screenings — one copy per family.

World Kindness Day wraps up with mindfulness at the Forks Branch Library with an after-hours session of gentle yoga and kindness-themed meditation at 7 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or beach towel.

The Forks Library is at 171 S. Forks Ave.

The Clallam Bay Library is at 16990 state Highway 112.

All North Olympic Library System libraries will be closed Monday for Veterans Day.
