The equipment was the result of $148,000 in funding and in-kind labor to buy new playground pieces and a wheelchair-friendly surface for the play area, located a block from Olympic Medical Center. Keohokaloke said the goal was to have the equipment finished and the playground open by the end of summer.

Stark demonstrated the making of a healthy dip for a crudite using fresh peas and cottage cheese as part of World Wide Breast Feeding Week with the emphasis on breast milk as the very first healthy food kids get in life. The program was sponsored by Jefferson Healthcare and Jefferson County Public Health. The demos will repeat on Saturday at the Uptown Farmer’s Market.
