New doctor joins Quilcene-based health center

PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County Public Health announced that Dr. Melinda Bower has joined the staff at the Quilcene school-based health center.

The center is located in the elementary school building.

Bower, a naturopathic doctor, is a graduate of Bastyr College in Kenmore.

Bower also is available at the Chimacum middle and high school health centers.

Bower joins Susan Bone O’Brien, a nurse practitioner who staffs the Port Townsend High School health center, located in the Gael Stuart Building, 1610 Blaine St.

Both Bower and O’Brien also see patients at the public health clinic, 615 Sheridan St.

They provide services that include treatment of acute illnesses and injuries; birth control and reproductive health; management of stress and depression; sports physicals, screening for and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases; and wellness and nutrition counseling.
