WEEKEND — 'Rosebud' to bloom again on Saturday

Peninsula Daily News

PORT TOWNSEND — A pair of encore performances of “Rosebud: The Lives of Orson Welles” are slated for Saturday in the Wheeler Theater at Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way.

The Paradise Theatre School of Chimacum is presenting this one-man show portraying Welles, the artistic maverick who, after causing a panic with his radio broadcast of “The War of the Worlds” in 1938, went on to star in movies and stage plays from “Macbeth” to “Citizen Kane.”

Erik Van Beuzekom stars in “Rosebud” while his wife, Pattie Miles, directs the play. Mark Jenkins, a Welsh playwright, penned the story, which drew glowing reviews when it premiered in Port Townsend last September.

Curtain times are

2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, with all seats at $15. “Rosebud” runs 90 minutes and contains mature themes, so it’s suitable for patrons of high school age on up.
