AND THE WINNERS ARE . . . Election results here tonight

Published 7:25 pm Tuesday, February 10, 2015

THERE IS ONLY one vote count for each of the ballot measures in Jefferson and Clallam counties tonight — and those counts will be announced here as soon as available after 8 p.m. (Vote processing begins at 8:01 p.m.)

Check back regularly — we’ll have a wrapup articles and separate stories on each of the measures later tonight, with reaction from those involved in the campaigns.

The Clallam County Auditor’s Office is tallying 21,128 ballots tonight out of 45,156 mailed to registered voters, for a voter turnout of 46.95 percent in the special elections for five property tax measures.

Auditor Shoona Riggs said all ballots received by 4:30 p.m. today will be counted tonight.

She expected about 500 more to come in during the week. The next scheduled vote count will be by 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The Jefferson County Auditor’s Office tonight will count 9,738 ballots out of 20,135 mailed to registered voters, for an election night turnout of 48.34 percent.

The office counted all ballots received by this morning, said Betty Johnson, Jefferson elections coordinator, who “optimistically” expects some 800 to 900 more to come in later this week.

The next scheduled count will be by noon Friday, Johnson said, but that could be moved up to Thursday “if any of the races are really close,” she said.

None of the measures on the Jefferson or Clallam ballots is countywide, so only voters in the specific jurisdictions received ballots.
