BUSINESS BRIEF — Orders still being accepted for Clallam Conservation District’s native plant sale

PORT ANGELES — Last-minute orders for native plants through the Clallam Conservation District’s annual native plant sale are being taken.

The bare-root tree and shrub seedlings are sold in bundles of 10 and 25 and range in price from $15 to $25 per bundle.

Orders must be postmarked by Jan. 28.

Conifer trees still available include Douglas and grand fir, shore pine, Sitka spruce, western hemlock and western red cedar.

Deciduous trees include Pacific crabapple and big leaf maple and vine maples.

Deciduous shrubs include blue elderberry, Indian plum, mock orange, Nootka rose, ocean spray, Pacific ninebark, red elderberry, red flowering currant, red osier dogwood, serviceberry, snowberry, thimbleberry and twinberry; and evergreen shrubs include tall Oregon grape.

The conservation district conducts the annual plant sale to provide native plants for wildlife habitat enhancement and environmentally friendly landscaping, according to a news release.

Plants will be available for pickup Feb. 28 at Lazy J Tree Farm east of Port Angeles.
