LETTER: Sanders for hospital

Published 1:30 am Sunday, March 15, 2026

I am writing to encourage people to vote for Penney Sanders for Clallam County Public Hospital District 2, Commissioner Position 7.

I had the privilege of listening to both candidates for the position during a presentation to our Kiwanis Club.

While both presented themselves, one proved to me that she is the candidate most qualified.

A 20-year resident, one who has seen both the highs and the lows in our hospital, she has been an active force for good.

Sanders is a fellow Kiwanian, a past president in our club and is active in weekly activities as well as community fundraisers.

She has been an elder advocate for 15 years and is aware of the pressures seniors live with daily.

She was chosen to fill the Position 7 vacancy in March.

She has her own voice and will advocate for the residents of Port Angeles.

She believes in keeping a full range of services available at Olympic Medical Center, and she believes Clallam County must have a local hospital.

She wants a more accountable and more responsive OMC.

She has just started and is willing to work to make the changes necessary to keep OMC open and viable.

Please join me voting for Sanders for hospital commissioner, position 7.
