Man airlifted to Harborview following 104 wreck

QUILCENE — A Moses Lake man was upgraded from critical to serious condition Wednesday afternoon after being airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following a two-vehicle collision Monday morning at state Highway 104 and Center Road.

A 2022 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by James P. Cook, 26, Moses Lake, was eastbound on Highway 104 near milepost 3 at about 8:20 a.m. Monday, the State Patrol said.

Cook’s vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a 1998 Acura Integra being driven westbound by Brandon L. Jimenez Castillo, 20, Bellevue.

It was unknown if Cook was wearing his seatbelt.

Jimenez Castillo was wearing a seat belt. He was not injured.

The State Patrol collision memo listed the cause as “speed too fast for conditions.”

Drugs or alcohol were not considered a factor.

Both vehicles were listed as completely destroyed.
