Memorial dedication for Shields’ plaque planned

PORT TOWNSEND — The Admiralty Inlet chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will dedicate a memorial plaque at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The ceremony is at the Marvin Shields Memorial Flagpole, located on the north side of West Sims Way, between Sheridan and Tenth streets.

The granite plaque will replace a bronze plaque detailing Shields’ Medal of Honor citation that was stolen early in 2019.

The Admiralty Inlet chapter is the caretaker for the site.
