Nordland fire damages home

NORDLAND — A Nordland house fire on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, was extinguished but left the home uninhabitable due to the damage, said East Jefferson Fire Rescue (EJFR).

When firefighters arrived at the blaze reported on Heinzinger Road at 2:16 p.m., the one-story home was engulfed in flames, EJFR said.

No one was home.

The overhaul phase, in which crews work to ensure no embers or hotspots remain, took several hours due to the intensity of the fire.

About 6,000 gallons of water were delivered by multiple units.

Quilcene, Port Ludlow, Discovery Bay, Poulsbo and Naval Magazine Indian Island assisted.

The cause of the fire was unknown as of Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
