Sea Scout Ship Marvin Shields earn trophy

Sea Scouts from Sea Scout Ship Marvin Shields received the Chief Seattle Council’s Hiltner Award trophy at a Feb. 8 ceremony in Seattle.

The trophy, along with a $500 cash award, is awarded annually to the best all-around ship in the council.

According to a press release, this is the first time that a ship from outside Seattle has won the award.

The SSS Marvin Shields is a 30-foot 1978 Bayliner Buccaneer sailboat sponsored by the Port Angeles Yacht Club.
