PORT ANGELES — One person was injured in a four-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 101 near Port Angeles on Saturday after a 16-year-old driver answered a cellphone call, according to the State Patrol.

The four vehicles were traveling eastbound on Highway 101 at about 5:27 p.m. Saturday just east of Port Angeles when Chase Cobb of Port Angeles answered a cellphone call.

According to the State Patrol, Cobb, driving a Honda CRV, answered the call on speaker mode and placed his phone in his lap.

He looked down at the phone and then rear-ended a Honda Accord, which then rear-ended a Dodge Charger, which then rear-ended a Hyundai Sonata.

The two Hondas needed to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the Honda Accord told the State Patrol he would take himself to a hospital.

Cobb was cited for following too close and for distracted driving.
