Fire chief to speak about annexation process

PORT TOWNSEND — Chief Jim Walkowski of East Jefferson Fire-Rescue will speak Monday, April 1, to Jefferson County Democrats about the process of expanding the three-member fire district commission to five members.
Voters approved annexation of the city of Port Townsend into the fire district in February. A vote to add two Port Townsend representatives to the fire district commission is tentatively set for August.
Walkowski will speak at 6 p.m. during the Democrats’ general membership meeting in the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road, Chimacum.
The party’s business meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Walkowski also will discuss the fire district’s mission, services and service area and take part in a question-and-answer session.
