AREA SPORTS BRIEF: Fifteen teams compete at Forks Crippen basketball tournament

Fifteen teams face off in Crippen tourney

FORKS — Fifteen teams from around the Olympic Peninsula, Seattle and Bellingham gathered in Forks last month to honor Nate Crippen and raise money for scholarships for graduating seniors at Forks High School.

On March 24, there was pool play which split teams into consolation and upper bracket play on March 25.

In the consolation bracket, Team Gramps, which includes former Spartans Parker Browning, Leo Gonzalez, Dustin Daniels and David Clark and Port Angeles and Peninsula College’s Luke Angevine beat Stratton, which included former Spartans Sean and Keith Weekes and Tyler Penn.

In the upper bracket, Black Diamond Electric defeated the Late Bloomers from Bellingham and Seattle, while Spoons and Olympic Sporting Goods placed third. Olympic Sporting Good featured former Spartans, including Marky Adams and Kasey Ulin.

Sponsors included Forks Outfitters, Dew Drop Inn, Pacific Pizza, Forks Motel, Forks Lions Club, Forks Elks lodge, Quileute Tribal Council, Str8 tee, Fugarwee Timber Inc, The In Place, Pacific Inn, Forks RV, Ron and Gayle Clarke, and Subway. Volunteers included Carrie Echeita, Les Stewart, Rhonda Cole, Jolene Price, Cathy Johnson, Bill Cantrell, Annie Crippen, Tessa Hurn and Rebekah Gooding.
