PORT ANGELES — The Port of Port Angeles is adding a laundry facility to the Port Angeles Boat Haven.

Commissioners on Tuesday told port staff to move forward and solicit bids for the estimated $161,500 project.

The port expects to spend about $99,900 for the project, with a $61,600 grant covering the rest.

The facility, which would be adjacent to the existing east Boat Haven restrooms, would have two washer-and-dryer combos, two additional dryers and access control with video surveillance.

The port is in the process of obtaining a city of Port Angeles Shoreline Substantial Development Permit for the project.

The laundry facility is expected to cost about $30,000 more than what was originally budgeted.

That $30,000 will come out of the port’s 2017 flexible project budget.

Port staff will ask port commissioners to award the contract in early May.
