PORT ANGELES — The Blackwood Legacy Quartet, a Southern gospel ensemble from Nashville, will be in town this evening (Sunday) for a public concert at First Christian Church, 2606 S. Race St.

Admission to the 6 p.m. event is free while donations will be welcome.

The quartet’s bass singer, Rick Price, was originally a protege of the late Cecil Blackwood; he began his career singing with the Blackwood Brothers in 1977, and was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame along with the group.

Blackwood Legacy’s baritone, meanwhile, is Spokane native Luke Yates, also a pianist and Nashville recording artist.

Paul Secord, formerly a featured singer ar Disney World, is the quartet’s tenor, while Hunter Sparkman, a Christian recording artist and musician from Nashville, is the lead singer.

Performing since 2001, The Blackwood Legacy Quartet gives nearly 250 concerts around the country each year.
