TACOMA — Open auditions for the 10th season of “America’s Got Talent” will be held at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center, 1500 Broadway, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9.
“We are looking for the latest and greatest acts, of all ages and any group size,” casting producer Brittni Dixon said in an email.
“This will be a great opportunity for people to showcase their talent, which can lead to the chance to compete for the $1 million prize and gain national exposure.”

‘Gong Show’ sign-ups
PORT TOWNSEND — Sign-ups are open for the “Gong Show V 2.0,” which will take place at the Cellar Door beginning at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Talent must sign up by Thursday at either the Cellar Door, 940 Water St., Suite 1; via Facebook at http://tinyurl.com/pdn-gongshow2; or by emailing their name, type of act and a short bio to info@cellardoorpt.com.
Judges include Jefferson County District Court Judge Jill Landes, Irondale native Dan Frederickson and a surprise celebrity judge.
Prizes will go to first and second place, as well as the worst act of the night.
Organizers are encouraging 1970s attire.
Entry is $3 for audience members and free for performers.
Proceeds will go to the Boiler Room.
‘Growing Groceries’
PORT TOWNSEND — The WSU Jefferson County Master Gardeners will present “Growing Groceries” classes starting this Friday at the WSU Extension Office, 380 Jefferson St.
Classes will take place on six Friday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and three Saturday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. till March 14.
The class is for anyone who wants to learn how to grow fresh, nutritious groceries for healthier food and extending the budget.
Class participants will learn what vegetables grow on the Olympic Peninsula, garden planning and record keeping, soil management, best cultivation practices and more.
The cost for this course is $50.

Sequim teens to perform comedy skits
SEQUIM — Forty-six students will perform sketches from “Saturday Night Live,” “The Carol Burnett Show,” “Monty Python,” “Key and Peele” and other comedy troupes for a show filled with laughter, humor and men wearing tights as a benefit for the Sequim High School 2015 senior class.
The shows run at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday and Feb. 6, plus 2 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Sequim High auditorium, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
Tickets, available at the door, are $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and students with Associated Student Body cards.

Chain gang busy
PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Chain Gang cleaned 169 culverts and removed debris from county roads between Jan. 5 and 9.
The roads included Edgewood Drive and South Bagley Creek Road, plus Bay View, Black Diamond, Little River, Heuslein, Shore, North Barr, Lewis, James Page and Lake Farm roads.
A total of 500 pounds of trash was removed from an illegal dump site on South Shore Road.
In addition, about 540 scotch broom plants at the Edwards pit were pulled.
Crews completed bridge maintenance on Sieberts and Upper Salt creeks. They thinned trees and cleaned guardrails.
Peninsula students named to university’s honor roll
ELLENSBURG — Several students from the North Olympic Peninsula made Central Washington University’s 2014 fall honor roll.
CWU undergraduate students who earn a 3.5 or better grade-point average on a 4.0 scale while carrying at least 12 graded credit hours of study are eligible for the honor roll.
