Close encounter: Seal draws attention on Port Angeles’ Hollywood Beach

Port Angeles resident Mark Swanson took this photo Sunday morning at Hollywood Beach in Port Angeles as his dog Marston meets what is thought by Feiro Marine Life Center facilities manager Bob Campbell to be a juvenile or female elephant seal.

Campbell placed warning tape around the beached mammal to keep curious crowds at a distance and said if the animal does not return to the water on its own, it may be relocated to a protected Ediz Hook beach.
