To offer inspiration and technique to poets and aspiring writers, libraries in Sequim and Port Angeles will offer three free workshops next week.
These classes, led by seasoned poets, are designed to help local writers enter the Rainshadow Poetry Competition, an event open to Clallam and Jefferson County residents of all ages.
The contest, whose theme is “A New Beginning,” will culminate in several events this spring: a gala reading at Olympic Theatre Arts in Sequim on April 26, publication of a chapbook and the printing of winning poems on posters mounted in windows around downtown Sequim.
The free workshop facilitators and dates are:
■ Gene Bradbury on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
■ Alice Derry and Kate Reavey on Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
■ Ruth Marcus on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Sequim Library.
