PORT ANGELES — Not sure what book to read next?
Recommendations will be made at a book discussion group at Port Angeles Library on Thursday, Jan. 8.
The group will begin at 6 p.m. at the library at 2210 S. Peabody St.
Library staff and other readers will offer recommendations at this informal chat session, where members can talk about they are reading and learn about new books in a relaxed, casual setting.
All readers and aspiring readers are welcome at this 2015 Adult Winter Reading Program event.
Unlike traditional book groups, the drop-in book discussions offer fans of any genre an opportunity to survey what others in the community are reading, library officials said.
There is no required reading prior to participation.
The discussions are part of the 2015 Adult Winter Reading Program at Clallam County public libraries in Port Angeles, Sequim, Forks and Clallam Bay — all of which are overseen by the North Olympic Library System.
The program for adults 18 and older will be from Jan. 1 through Feb. 28.
To participate, visit any of the public libraries to pick up a travelogue game board and then “read” your way around the Peninsula.
For every 100 pages completed, readers will receive one entry in a grand prize drawing on Tuesday, March 3; the more you read, the better your chances of winning.
To keep readers motivated, each library will host events such as author visits and workshops.
Here is a schedule of events:
■ Jan. 8 — Drop-In book discussion at Port Angeles Library, 6 p.m.
■ Jan. 21 — Author talk with Janet Oakley, Timber Rose: Women Climbing Mountains in Skirts, at Clallam Bay Library, 16990 U.S. Highway 112, at 2 p.m., and Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave., at 6 p.m.
■ Jan 22 — Author talk with Oakley at Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., at 2 p.m., and Port Angeles Library at 6 p.m.
