PORT ANGELES — The inaugural meeting of the Clallam County Charter Review Commission will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in the commissioners’ meeting room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St. in Port Angeles.

Commission members will take oaths of office, elect officers and discuss rules of procedures and meeting schedules.

The panel will review the charter, Clallam County’s “constitution” for government, and recommend amendments that will go before voters in November.

Fifteen members were elected to the commission during the Nov. 4 general election, five from each of the three county commissioner districts.

District 1 is represented by Sue Forde, Ken Hays, Ronald Bell, Nola Judd and Ted Miller.

From District 2 are Glenn Wiggins, Norma Turner, Maggie Roth, Steven Burke and Selinda Barkhuis.

District 3 is represented by Mike Doherty, Barbara Christensen, Connie Beauvais, Cheryl Williams and Rod Fleck.

Clallam County is one of seven of 39 counties in the state that operate under a home-rule charter, unlike most where procedures are dictated by the Legislature.

A Charter Review Commission is elected every eight years.
