Clallam Fire District No. 2 controls small wildfire near former Elwha Dam

PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Fire District 2 got a small wildfire under control in about an hour Sunday morning on state forestlands near the site of the former Elwha Dam west of here.

The fire was about 75 feet by 60 feet in size and moved slow, a fire district spokesperson said.

Because the 6:52 a.m. fire was on Department of Natural Resources land, the fire district summoned DNR, which took over fire command at 12:30 p.m.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
