SEQUIM — Ever wanted to play a ghost?
Here’s your chance.
Readers Theatre Plus will conduct auditions for its next play, “A Nice Family Gathering,” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the old Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road.
Pat Owens will direct the comedy by Phil Olson, which will be performed in October.
In the play, a man comes back as a ghost to tell his widow he loved her. In 41 years of marriage, he had not done so.
It’s difficult; she can’t hear or see him. And the trouble really begins when she invites a date for dinner.
Parts in the play are Carl, the middle brother in his 30s or 40s — the only one who can see his father — the widow, in her 60s or 70s; the dad, a ghost, who died in his 60s or 70s; Michael, the older brother, also in his 30s or 40s, who has a secret; his wife, Jill, in her 20s or 30s, with her own secret; Stacy, the younger sister, also in her 20s or 30s, who also has a secret; Jerry, the gentleman caller, in his 60s or 70s; and Mrs. Enquist, a neighbor in her 60s or 70s, who does not appear onstage.
The play will be performed at 7 p.m. Oct. 17, 18, 24 and 25. Matinees at
2:30 p.m. are set for Oct. 19 and 26.
Rehearsals will start with a read-through Monday, Aug. 18. Dates have not been set for six rehearsals in October.
