PORT ANGELES — Members of the public are invited to bid a “farewelcome” to the North Olympic Library System’s outgoing director and greet her replacement Friday.

Library staff are hosting a reception for outgoing director Paula Barnes and incoming director Margaret Jakubcin, currently assistant director, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Barnes announced in January that her seven years as director would be coming to an end effective this Monday.

Jakubcin, whose contract as the new director was approved by library board members in March, will officially take over Tuesday.

The system oversees the Port Angeles, Sequim, Clallam Bay and Forks public libraries.

Barnes said last week that the library system will hold off on looking for a new assistant director, with library managers and other staff instead splitting up the position’s duties.
