In the photos at right, three World War II-era fighters fly in a “three-ship ‘V'” formation over the North Olympic Peninsula this morning to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of France on June 6, 1944, that turned the tide of the war.

The planes of the Historic Flight Foundation of Mukilteo flew over Port Townsend, Sequim and Port Angeles, at times flying through intermittent fog.
