League of Women Voters to host series of election forums

PORT ANGELES — The League of Women Voters of Clalam County plans a fall kickoff on Thursday and a candidate forum next Sunday, Sept. 23.
At Thursday’s event, representatives of the Republican, Democrat and Green parties will present the platforms of their parties from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Dick Pilling, chairman of the Clallam County Republican Party, will represent the Republican Party’s platform, while Pat Johansen of Sequim will speak for the Democratic Party and Nelson Cone of Port Angeles, for the Green Party.
Desserts and coffee will be served starting at 6:30 p.m.
Next Sunday, the league will present a judicial candidate debate from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Clallam County commissioners’ meeting room (160) of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.
The debate will be preceded by a meet-and-greet with candidates from
1:30 p.m. to 1:50 p.m.
Candidates scheduled to appear are:
■ Clallam County Superior Court Position No. 1 candidates Chris Melly and Eric Rohrer.
■ State Court of Appeals Division 2, District 2 candidates Thomas Bjornen and Pamela Loginsky.
■ State Supreme Court Justice Sheryl Gordon McCloud and Richard Sanders.
