PORT TOWNSEND — City and Port of Port Townsend officials have sparred over Point Hudson before.

But renewed talks over the future of the Port-owned property foster the spirit of cooperation.

Residents will have the opportunity to speak on the future of the resort during a meeting tonight at 6 at the Point Hudson Marina Room.

Ideas to be discussed include what kind of businesses should be at Point Hudson, the types of recreational activities there and the extent of construction that can take place on the prime piece of waterfront property.

Port and city representatives held a private meeting Tuesday to settle past differences before moving forward to map the future of the 1930s-era federal installation-turned-resort.

“We spent about three hours discussing more issues in common than not,” Port Executive Director Larry Crockett said.

“We found a lot of common ground — and I’m serious about that.”

The meeting included staff members, Mayor Catharine Robinson, Port Commission President Conrad Pirner and a consultant.
