PREP SOFTBALL: 14 Roughriders, Wolves make 2A all-league teams

PORT ANGELES — Sequim and Port Angeles combined to place 14 athletes on the Class 2A All-Olympic League Softball teams.

The Roughriders had four first-team selections — freshman utility player Peyton Rudd, sophomore shortstop Jada Cargo, junior outfielder Ella Holland and senior outfielder Madilyn Roening — in voting conducted by league coaches.

Three more Port Angeles players were named to the second team — freshman catcher Zoe Smithson, junior pitcher Kiana Watson-Charles and senior infielder Hope O’Connor.

Wolves’ senior second baseman Isabelle Dennis was a first-team pick along with freshman outfielder Kiana Robideau.

Five Sequim players were second-team honorees. The list includes freshman outfielders Lili Fili and LeeAnn Raney, freshman utility player Christy Grubb and senior infielders Latisha Robideau and Bobbi Sparks.

Both teams will play at the Class 2A State Softball Tournament in Selah beginning Friday.

Olympic slugger Molly Gates was voted MVP.
