HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Sequim boys clinch spot in regionals; Port Townsend girls season ends

The Sequim Wolves beat Franklin Pierce 48-42 Friday night to guarantee themselves a trip to next week’s regionals.

Sequim will play the winner between Sumner in the 2A West Central District tournament on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Foss High School in Tacoma.

The Spartans (15-9) upset third-ranked Renton (21-2), 55-53, on Friday night.

If the Wolves beat Sumner, they will play Monday at the ShoWare Center in Kent at noon. If they lose Saturday, they will play at Foss on Monday at 5:45 p.m.

The Port Townsend girls’ season ended with a 49-31 loss to the Blaine Borderites in the 1A Tri-District tournament.

Saturday’s Basketball Games

Sequim vs. Sumner at Foss High School, 8 p.m.

Port Angeles girls (16-4) play No. 4 White River (20-3) at 2:20 p.m. at Foss High School in the 2A West Central District semifinals.

If the Roughriders beat the Hornets, they’ll play the winner between Sumner (17-5) and Olympic (17-5) on Monday morning at the ShoWare Center in Kent for the district championship.

If the Riders lose to White River, they will play the Sumner-Olympic loser Monday afternoon at Foss.
