Port Angeles’ Aeverie Politika showed she is back from an ankle injury she suffered during basketball season.
Politika missed much of the second half of the basketball season with her injury. She seems to be recovering, though. In the Roughriders’ first league softball game of the year at Dry Creek last week, Politika belted a long solo home run well over the left-field fence. She followed up after that big hit to drive in two more runs with a bases-loaded single later in the game.
Politika, who plays first base for the Riders, is one of only two seniors on the team along with Hope O’Connor as she and her young teammates look to continue Port Angeles’ legacy of winning Olympic League 2A Division championships on the diamond.
