PORT ANGELES — The Drive One 4 UR School fundraiser, in which people can test-drive new cars from Price Ford Lincoln and help Port Angeles High School at the same time, is Sunday.
The fundraiser is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Walmart, 3471 E. Kolonels Way.
For each test-drive taken by a participant, $20 will be donated to the high school.
The goal is 300 drives to raise $6,000 for the Career & Technical Educational Leadership and Science Clubs, said Price Ford’s Joel Elliott, sales manager at the dealership and a PAHS graduate.
“The big key is that we’re not trying to sell anything,” Elliott said.
‘No pressure’
“There’s no pressure to buy,” Elliott said. “
From registration — taken by high school students — to the time a drive is finished will take about 10 minutes, he said.
The program is in its fourth year, with two events having been done in the first year, and has raised more than $24,000 for the high school, Elliott said.
There is a limit of one test-drive per address. Each driver must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s license. Car seats cannot be accommodated.
Nationally, the Ford Motor Co.’s Drive One 4 UR School program has sponsored 1,500 events in 49 states, raising more than $5 million for before- and after-school activities in high schools across the country.
