PORT TOWNSEND — A Port Townsend motorcyclist was air-lifted to a Seattle hospital after a collision with a Toyota on Friday.

Troy V. McKelvey, 45, was taken to Harborview Medical Center, the State Patrol said. He was discharged later in the day, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The State Patrol said that McKelvey, riding a Yamaha, and a Toyota Tacoma both were traveling southbound on state Highway 19 at Chimacum Road at 8:27 a.m. Friday when Cayden W. Sevilla, 22, of Port Townsend slowed the car to make a left turn into a driveway.

McKelvey struck the vehicle from behind, the State Patrol said.

Sevilla was not injured.

McKelvey was cited for following too closely.

McKelvey was wearing a helmet. Sevilla was wearing a seat belt.
