SHINE — The state Department of Transportation is closing the Hood Canal Bridge to vehicular traffic in a series of eight nights of five-hour closures beginning Monday night.
The state Highway 104 bridge will be completely closed to highway traffic nightly from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Monday through Thursday and the following week Monday, March 16, through Thursday, March 19.
The state said in a press release that the closures are necessary so that maintenance crews can repair key portions of the bridge. No other information was available.
The nature of the repairs precludes opening the bridge for traffic, the press release said.
Drivers are cautioned that slow progress on repairs may lead to longer closures and that weather and tidal activity may require work to be rescheduled to a later date.
