SEQUIM — Bringing awareness to and fostering jobs through a Career Technical Education will be the focus of a tour and meet-and-greet with Sen. Lisa Wellman in Sequim.
Wellman is a Democrat who represents District 41 in the state Legislature.
Clallam County Economic Development Council and Sequim Sunrise Rotary invite the public to attend from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday in the Sequim High School Cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
They encourage middle and high school students and their parents/guardians, and community members to attend to learn about local, successful career paths in CTE/vocations.
Community participants will share local workforce needs in such fields as agriculture, construction, health care, hospitality, manufacturing and technology.
Some of the participants include Olympic Medical Center, Clallam County Public Utility District, Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, City of Sequim, North Peninsula Builders Association, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County, Sequim School District CTE, Sunrise Rotary Club and Sequim Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Organizers say they want to foster local and regional support for Sequim Schools’ CTE Center of Excellence to better prepare graduates for skilled trade careers.
