SEQUIM — An attic fire that burned a home’s roof north of Sequim has left two homeowners displaced.

Clallam County Fire District No. 3 responded to the fire at 247 Griffith Farm Road at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, where firefighters continue to investigate its cause.

Fire Chief Ben Andrews said the fire might have started on the deck and traveled into the attic. The fire destroyed the roof but not the entire house.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about two hours, which was especially difficult because of heavy winds that fanned the flames, Andrews said.

The homeowners said they were uninjured, and their home, which they’ve lived in for 2½ years, is insured.

Andrews said they plan to live in a building adjacent to the home for now.

Fire District No. 3 sent three engines and three tenders to the scene and Clallam County Fire District No. 2 responded with one engine.

Olympic Ambulance, Clallam Public Utility District and the American Red Cross of the Olympic Peninsula also responded.
