Ron Winger recognized for ECHHO volunteer work

PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend resident Ron Winger, center, received the Ecumenical Christian Helping Hands Organization (ECHHO) Travis Award from Susan Jacob-Humiston, left, and Mark Getzendaner.

The Travis Award, named for Bruce and Jeanette Travis, recognizes ECHHO’s volunteer of the year.

Over the past four years, Winger has made regular Saturday food bank deliveries to Jefferson County residents who are unable to leave their homes.

According to a press release, ECHHO volunteers drove more than 90,000 miles assisting Jefferson County residents last year.
