A breath of Freshwater Bay air

PORT ANGELES — John Hagan of Port Angeles sits with his daughter, Eleanor, 2, and Brodie the dog on a nearly deserted stretch of beach along Freshwater Bay near the mouth of the Elwha River west of Port Angeles last Saturday, March 28, 2020.

Hagan said he and his daughter have been making frequent visits to the area as an escape from the city and to enjoy the fresh air and relative solitude.

The scene was different than the previous weekend, when hundreds of people flocked to Freshwater Bay despite social distancing orders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
