PORT ANGELES – Peninsula College Jazz Ensemble invites community members of all ages to a free concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Port Angeles campus of Peninsula College at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
The Fall Jazz Concert will be in Maier Performance Hall.
The band will perform a wide variety of jazz from Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, and Count Basie to contemporary compositions by Pat Metheny, Maria Schneider, and Portland composer Jessika Smith, said the Jazz Ensemble’s new director Marge Rosen of Port Angeles.
Performers are from across the North Olympic Peninsula.
The 16-piece big band features freshman Avery Saul of Port Angeles singing an arrangement of the famous Sinatra tune “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” a popular cha-cha “Sway,” and other picks from the Great American Songbook. Robbin Eaves of Joyce will sing the classic “Why Don’t You Do Right” and a holiday favorite.
From Port Angeles are Jim Bradbury, Nancy McPherson, and Larry Madsen on trumpet and conductor Rosen on drums.
