Starting in August, Jefferson Healthcare is expanding access to specialized foot and ankle care in East Jefferson County with the launch of a new podiatry service line.

Edee Brocklesby, DPM, a Foot and Ankle Surgeon, is joining Jefferson Healthcare to provide comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.

For many people, foot and ankle problems can make it difficult to do the things they enjoy, from hiking and gardening to playing sports, working, or simply getting through the day without pain.

Until now, patients in our community often had to travel significant distances to see a foot and ankle specialist or wait months for an appointment. The new podiatry service at Jefferson Healthcare is designed to help change that.

“We are bringing high-quality foot and ankle care directly to our community, eliminating the need for patients to leave town for specialized treatment,” Brocklesby says. “Our promise is to provide accessible, personalized care that relieves pain, restores mobility, and keeps people working, exploring, and enjoying the active lifestyle they love.”

Brocklesby brings extensive training in foot and ankle surgery to Jefferson Healthcare. She earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Des Moines University and completed her residency at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and a Fellow of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

Her clinical interests include foot and ankle arthritis, sports medicine, minimally invasive surgery, arthroscopy of the foot and ankle, and bunion surgery. She also provides non-surgical care and treatment, including biomechanical evaluations, orthotics, conservative treatment of sports injuries, arthritis management, diabetic foot examinations, and nail care. The clinic will serve patients ages 13 and older.

Having a Foot and Ankle Surgeon in our community is particularly important for patients whose conditions may require specialized evaluation or surgical treatment.

Whether someone is dealing with a painful bunion, an athletic injury, arthritis that is limiting mobility, or another complex foot or ankle condition, receiving care close to home can make it easier to get the treatment they need, and get back to the activities that matter to them.

The new service also expands Jefferson Healthcare’s ability to provide care across the spectrum, from preventive services and diabetic foot care to advanced surgical treatment.

By offering these services locally, Jefferson Healthcare can help reduce unnecessary travel, improve access to timely treatment, and support patients in maintaining their mobility and independence.

Brocklesby says she was drawn to Jefferson Healthcare because of its strong community-hospital mission and the active population it serves. She looks forward to becoming part of the community and helping keep Port Townsend and East Jefferson County “on their feet.”

The launch of podiatry is part of Jefferson Healthcare’s ongoing work to expand services in East Jefferson County, making high-quality health care more accessible. Patients can visit the Podiatry page on Jefferson Healthcare’s website to learn more and schedule an appointment.
