Port Townsend Cycle School instructor Ric Hjertberg, left, demonstrates how to straighten bowed spokes to Erik Pugh of Olympia during a wheel building class held at the Cotton Building on Sunday and Monday. Hjertberg said that straight spokes and even tension are imperative to keep the wheel as stable and long-lasting as possible. The school is part of the new nonprofit Community Arts & Recreation Alliance. Next up are classes in bike mechanics.
