2023 music scholarships awarded to local students

PORT ANGELES — Monday Musicale has announced the recipients of its 2023 music scholarships.

Vocalist Danika Chen received the $3,500 first-place scholarship; vocalists Abigail Sanford and Rayna Mathison tied for second-place scholarships of $2,500 each; and horn player Brock Tejeda received a $500 scholarship as an honorable mention.

The winners were selected by a panel of adjudicators made up of Jonathan Pasternack, director and conductor of the Port Angeles Symphony; Vicky Helwick, vocalist and music teacher; and Phil Morgan-Ellis, string instructor and the conductor and director of Sequim Community Orchestra.
