GOLF: Linksters compete at Polar Bear tournament at Cedars at Dungeness

SEQUIM — More than 60 amateur and professional golfers from the Olympic Peninsula and western Washington competed in the 2022 Polar Bear tournament at the Cedars at Dungeness this weekend.

The top amateur was Dalton Dean of the Everett Golf and Country club, who shot an 11-under-par 67 in round one and 66 in round two for a 133. The top pro was Joel Skarbo (unaffiliated) with an 8-under- par 136 (69, 67).

There was a total purse of $8,891. Dean won a $300 purse for top net amateur score and $500 overall. Dean and Danny Romero shared the biggest payouts at $500 each. Romero won the Flight Two net and gross scores and took the gross payout.

Skarbo, who beat Andy Lee by just two strokes (138 — 69, 69) won a $350 purse.
